Ask a little.
A question, a half-formed idea, something you’re curious about. Hold the paddle and talk it through with Muse.
“Can you explain that more simply?”
A little device for your Muse
Meet Yolk. A lightweight e-ink companion that puts Muse in your hand. Ask out loud. Hear back. Let the words settle on paper.
Prototype in progress. A small thing with a lot ahead of it.
Small device. Meet big possibility.
Yolk gives Muse a home beyond your phone: a microphone, a speaker, a quiet screen, and a button you can find by feel. What you do with it comes from Muse—and the tools you connect to it.

“Can you explain that more simply?”
Bring the useful bits into view. A briefing, a reminder, a list—through the capabilities available in your Muse setup.
“Give me a quick morning briefing.”
Reach the tools and compatible devices you’ve connected to Muse. A little button can be the start of something useful.
“Turn on the desk light.”

The very short instructions
One physical paddle starts the conversation. A little ink companion lets you know what’s happening.
Press and hold the side paddle. Say what’s on your mind, in your own words.
Release to send. Yolk shows a thinking state while Muse works on your request.
Replies can be spoken through the speaker and shown on e-ink. A small screen for the words that matter.
A screen with a softer side
Black and white. Paper-like. Easy to glance at. Yolk’s e-ink screen reflects the light around it instead of shining back at you.
It holds an image without powering the display continuously. A reply, a status, a familiar little face—right there on your desk.
200 × 200 pixels of personalitySomeone’s home
Listening looks like listening. Thinking looks like thinking. And when something goes wrong, Yolk says so.
The character brings a little warmth to the wait, with expressions drawn for the monochrome screen.

A little look under the shell
Every layer has a job. The e-ink display, board, speaker and battery fit inside a two-tone printed shell, held together by four rear screws.
This is the actual enclosure CAD. Turn it around, take it apart, and see how it all fits.

A little room for you
Warm yellow? Quiet sage? Something a little brighter? Mix a body colour with an accent and give Yolk your own feel.
Drag the device to turn it around. The back, dial and screen surround share the accent finish.
Finish studies, not product options. The dial is the remaining prototype addition, planned for reply scrolling and quick settings such as volume.

A few things you might be wondering
Talk to Muse through a dedicated device. Ask questions, work through ideas, or use the tools and services connected to your Muse account. Yolk provides the voice controls, speaker and e-ink display; Muse provides the assistance. Specific actions depend on your setup.
The current experience needs Wi-Fi and a connected Muse account to send requests and receive replies. E-ink can retain an image without a connection, but that doesn’t mean Muse runs offline on Yolk.
The dial is the remaining addition to the prototype. It is planned for scrolling multi-page text replies and controlling quick settings such as volume. It is shown in the design mockups and CAD model.
Not yet. Yolk is a prototype, with no confirmed price or shipping date. You can get in touch to follow its development and hear about future opportunities to try it.
Yolk is an independent device project built using the open-source Muse Gadgets SDK. Muse powers the connected experience. Learn about Muse Gadgets ↗
